Purpose of Establishment
Among various Asian regions that have suffered from impoverishment, Cambodia is known for its tragic history in which more than a quarter of its entire population was killed from 1975 to 1979. The tragedy still looms over the nation, as most of its potential leaders were decimated during the genocide. Volunteers for Educational Services in Asia (VESA) aims to confront the spiritual as well as material deprivation of Cambodia, and plant the seed of hope in Christ by sharing love within the community. VESA aims to establish and operate an academic institution for the education of the future leaders of the country. The VESA members consist of experts in education and missionary work — mostly Christian professors — as well as devoted missionaries of various sectors.
